You know, I am a typical Jets fan, the kind that expects the bottom to drop out at any moment but come what may....this team has been a real treat this season. I thought they would win 6 games max what with all the question marks surrounding them but here they are trying to get into the playoffs. Wow. This team has three times the heart of the Giants with one third of the talent. Even if they don't make the playoffs it's been a great year, much better than anyone could've hoped for. ( I hope they make the playoffs, though! :)
Well, Christmas is over, thank goodness. Didn't feel particularly Christmassee this year, although my son got me into it a bit. He was really cute, running around yelling "Christmas lights!" and "Christmas tree!". Funny little guy...
Got some nice stuff this year. My wife got me this book I wanted about one of my all-time favorite artists, James Bama. Oh man, I love this guy. As a kid I got into him because he did the Doc Savage covers. He tore them up. I loved his covers, they were just dynamic and the composition just blew me away. This book reprints ALL of his covers and prints the hundreds of other paintings he did. Incredible. If you want to see the work of a great artist, pick this up....

Here is some of his great Doc Savage covers...and not even his best ones:

Do yourself a favor and pick it up. You will not be disappointed.

Forgot to put this up...I love The Office. I just fell for that show, it's hilarious. So I did a drawing of John Krasinski as Jim (Big Tuna) Halpert. I also sent it in to this cool site called Life in the Office
http://www.lifeintheoffice.com/index.php
and Brian, the cool guy who runs it, put the drawing up. I'm currently doing a piece of Brian and his wife for them. Brian must think I've forgotten him but between Christmas preparations and work and William there has been very little time to work on it..but I'm working on it, I really am! It's hard doing caricatures FOR people instead OF people. You have to please them and that can be tricky with caricatures. I'll post it when I am done...
Been awhile...well over a month. Been busy at work, at home and a bit lazy, so that makes a dangerous cocktail. Lot of interseting stuff going on in TV and sports. Galactica and The Office has been great and the Knicks have not been. Bad losses, coupled with a funny fight that has everyone losing their minds (and which may have accelerated the Allen Iverson-to Denver trade) have made this first quarter of the Knicks season really strange. And then they have a THRILLING win against Utah the other night. Crazy. They usually lose games like that.

The thing that struck me lately, though, that I had to write a bit about, is the situation my best friend, André LeRoy Davis is in. André is the artist of The Last Word in the Source magazine and has been for 16 years. Great art and, from André, great loyalty over the years even though I think they don't deserve it. Well, because of a bunch of issues that I will not go into André will no longer be doing The Last Word in The Source. And it is COMPLETELY their fault. Completely. First they tried to substantially cut Andre's page rate. I mean, big time. Who the hell would take that? Trying to slave a brotha out. Then they stab him in the back and kick him to the curb. And they owe him a large sum of money. Large. Cheap bastards. This is incredible to me...16 YEARS. I never want to hear ANYONE talk about employee loyalty anymore. Like I said, I barely touched on what's going on here but I had to mention it. My man Davis deserves much better. Time for XXL or Vibe to snatch him up and treat him right. The Source is garbage: it's just another hip-hop magazine (and a half-assed one, at that) without André. BOYCOTT THE SOURCE! I know I'm never buying another issue....
